What do Teenage Couples Talk About? – Teen Dating Advice

Last updated on December 7, 2021 I Posted on December 7, 2021 By Bonita Brown

Although teenage romance is quite normal these days and doesn’t only belong to dramas and novels, it can feel unnerving for the elders. Most people fear that teenagers are emotionally more vulnerable, and may get manipulated, or heartbroken easily. Hence, any teenage couple needs to maintain their relationship in the right way to avoid troubles and make it work. One of the fundamental rules of any healthy relationship is communication. Regardless of the medium, they need to talk.

Most of their conversations and hangouts include texting or video calls. But they do spend some good hours talking in person on a date, or on the phone. Their communication is filled with thoughtfulness, care, intimacy, and also, independence. Most of their dating includes cute texting or talking about several aspects of their lives. This shows that they are willing to know and understand each other better.

Dreams and Goals

As teenagers, people have more dreams and interests over different things. So, firstly they talk about these which can be on anything. They listen to each other intently and are also encouraged to pursue their goals in the future.

Anxiety and Frustrations

Teenagers are easily very frustrated with any negative events in life. This may also include their bad relationships with others, or troubles, failures, and so on. The partners share their sadness, frustrations, fears with each other in the hopes of comfort and having a mental release.

Career and Money

Since they dream big, they often discuss earning money like doing chores or part-time jobs. They also figure out some great and suitable career options. In most cases, they try to make money by dating and exchanging presents.

Favorite Subjects

Along with their hopes comes some other interesting topics to have a meaningful discussion. Teenage romance isn’t only about cute gifts, walking, and holding hands. The partners may choose some intellectual topics to discuss or debate. This allows helping each other flourish.

Religion or Spirituality

They may also think about a deity and their beliefs in religion. This allows them to explore their spirituality and deeper thoughts about life. These kinds of subjects develop relationships with more respect for each other.

Household Issues

Perhaps, sharing about daily lives and family matters that are less personal is an important and regular part of the conversation. Either they seek comfort or wish for some solution to a problem from their partners.

Memories

Everyone loves to talk about their memories especially of childhood, and those that are happy. This also helps them to know more about their partners. Besides, this gives them a storytelling session. They also discuss the new memories they would build together.

Experiences

The partners talk about their lessons in life and experiences over various events. This allows them to reflect on the changes they have made and learned. They can also share their experiences to help each other.

Differences between Happy and Toxic Relationship

HappyToxic
Accepts mistakes and apologizesDefends and accuses the other
Shares happiness and problems equallyOnly complains and shares frustrations
Fewer fights with communication to solve mattersLoud fights and no conversation for days
More comfort, trust, and independenceDoubts, boundaries, ignorance

Even though they communicate for a happy relationship, the elders should try to properly guide them and check on them to see if everything is alright. The couples may fight or argue or make silly mistakes, but this shouldn’t hamper their lifestyle or relationship. So, they should communicate to improve their relationship over time.
