What Kind of Underwear Should a Teenage Boy Wear: 15-Year-Old Boy in Boxers

Last updated on July 16, 2022 I Posted on March 23, 2021 By Bonita Brown

Changes during the teenage years can be tough to keep up with. Your emotions, hormones, bodily features, everything is changing. And with the changes in the physical form, it is crucial that you find a comfortable pair of underwear that also allows your genitals to develop normally.

Why Should Teenage Boys be Bothered About Underwears?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that boys have to be bothered about which underwear to choose. Firstly because every adolescent is undergoing physical changes in the body and they may need to switch to a different type of underwear.

Secondly, most teenagers wish to feel comfortable and underwear being the most basic piece of garment it should be comfortable. Also, most boys suffer in silence trying to guess if they should buy boxers or briefs.

Most boys have to face situations in the locker rooms where bullying starts the moment someone struts in, in a cartoon brief/boxer!

Factors to Consider While Choosing an Underwear

This guide aims at bringing in enough information regarding a boy’s health, safety, and comfort to make any recommendations. So, here are a few things to take into consideration before choosing an underwear type:

Safety: It is common knowledge how sensitive a man’s nether area is. Hence, it is also prone to accidents and injuries. Choosing a type of underwear that provides the right support and safety is essential.

Comfort: Being sensitive, the male testicles need the right temperature and environment. In the lack of these ideal conditions, they often don’t produce enough testosterone and may become cancerous.

Utility/Fashion: When the two criteria mentioned above are met, the ultimate factor becomes essential. Puberty is a time when boys may face spontaneous erections. The right style of underwear may prevent it from getting worse or stimulating it further.

Boxers or Briefs?- The Ultimate Debate

When looking for an ideal underwear for themselves, teenagers seem to be stuck in choosing between boxers and briefs. Here’s how each one helps the little buddy.

Boxer Shorts

Boxers have been used by men as a mainstream underwear option since the 1950s. These look and feel like shorts and are made of breathable material like cotton.

Boxers aren’t form-fitting hence are a good option when you’re trying to relax and feel at ease. However, since these are not form-fitting, boxers aren’t an ideal choice when you are in a formal attire or playing a sport.

Briefs

Brief underwears have become more common in recent years. There are even different types of briefs. The most common ones being low rise and full rise briefs.

Briefs are a more form-fitting and cropped version of boxer shorts. There’s a prominent Y shape to it.

Being cropped and form-fitted, briefs do have a pouch-like feature that gives extra support to the genitals. This makes it perfect for any kind of formal attire or sporty event.

In Conclusion

With time, every man and every teenager figures out their comfort level and which type of underwear suits them. But it is critical to take into consideration factors like safety and support as well before you make a choice. If you’re wearing boxers shorts, for instance, while playing some kind of sporty event you may risk getting rashes and chafed skin.
